About us

Who are we?

A non-profit organization whose primary mission is to give back by helping people in precarious situations or experiencing financial difficulties, by providing them with essential items such as clothing, furniture, and household appliances.

With a team of over 30 employees and about 15 volunteers, we run a community thrift store and offer a variety of services, all of which help to give people a second chance in different ways.

A tightly knit team

Our team of thirty employees carries out a phenomenal amount of work. They are highly committed to each of our missions and know how to adapt to different situations. Thanks to them, we’re able to keep offering a haven of peace, a little gem where it feels good to be, with its human warmth, desire to help, our smiles and availability.

A team of 15 volunteers have joined the work team. Their commitment and dedication have made a vital and much-appreciated contribution to the centre.

Our motto: Alone, we go faster, but together, we can go further illustrates our commitment to supporting and assisting our clients, without losing sight of the importance of teamwork in achieving this.

Many of our partners work with us to fight poverty and reduce social inequality, either by developing joint projects or by sending us requests for material assistance for their users.

Financing

The Châteauguay Community Centre benefits from a financial contribution from the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services as part of the Community Organization Support Program (PSOC).

We receive various subsidies related to reintegration or experience with the local employment centre (CLE) and SDM SEMO Montérégie, CIT.

Every year, the organization welcomes students sponsored by the Canada Summer Jobs program for the summer season.

Self-financing

The Community Center self-finances its activities through in-store sales of furniture, items of all kinds and clothing, all of which have been raised thanks to the generosity of the people of Châteauguay and surrounding areas, who donate to the Community Center. The Community Thrift Shop is a non-profit organization. We have a social mission.

Regular sales

Following a predetermined schedule, we offer 2/1 or 50% sales twice a month in all thrift store departments. We also throw surprise sales throughout the year!

Fundraising activities

Every year, the organization holds a fundraising event to collect donations.

Covered territory

Our field of activity is primarily geared towards the population of the City of Châteauguay and the other municipalities of the MRC Roussillon.
